Senior SDET - Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

What’s the role?

At Bilt, we’re looking for a Senior SDET, where you'll work collaboratively with our Engineering, Product, and Data teams. Your role will be instrumental in building technology to ensure that our systems continue to operate at incredibly high standards.

You'll be responsible for developing test automation frameworks and customizing automation environments to meet recurring testing requirements. Your expertise will shine as you design, validate, and implement highly efficient test automation solutions via integration testing, performance testing, and regression suites. 

Note: This role is NOT geared towards those in manual QA rather those with extensive background in automation and coding

In this role, you will… 

• Create and run test infrastructure to service our many microservices
• Create and conduct performance tests across our services ensuring that our systems handle certain load (we experience high load around the first of the month)
• Setup integrations into our CI CD pipeline
• Own the software QA process, including: developing, implementing, and maintaining test plans, test scenarios, and test cases
• Plan the roadmap of QA and build out a team
• Recommend test automation approach, tools, and frameworks
• Troubleshoot and debug issues with test automation scripts
• Collaborate with development and testing teams to identify and prioritize automation opportunities

In terms of qualifications, we’re seeking:

• At least 6 years of experience in software automation development
• Experience in building an automation framework from scratch
• Individuals who are great with scripting as well as building scalable software
• Proficient in Java and preferably JavaScript or some other scripting language
• Experience in Git
• Hands-on experience with automated testing tools like rest assured, playwright, wiremock, k6, apigee, pact, jmeter, browserstack, Cypress or anything similar
• Familiarity with how authentication works (Oauth, JWT)
• Have built and scaled a SDET team before

We are considering candidates with differing levels of expertise for this position. Leveling will be based upon your experience and performance in the interview process.

Where a new hire falls within a range will be based on their individual skills and experience, and how these competencies compare across other employees in the same role. Bilt's bands are designed to allow for individual compensation growth within the role. As such, new hires typically start at the lower end of the range. Bilt rewards performance and outcomes - should you join the company, you will have the opportunity to grow your salary over time.

The salary range for a Senior SDET  is $160,000 - 200,000  and will be eligible for equity and an annual performance-based bonus.
