Climate LLC’s San Francisco, CA, office seeks a Data Scientist. This is a hybrid work-from-home/office-based position that will be responsible for delivering innovative scientific breakthroughs by applying predictive analytics, risk optimization, and statistics to integrated recommendations as well as predicting product performance and providing personalized prescriptions for growers while developing novel analytical models and best practices for complex data analyses. Will also: (i) explore, munge, and model large and diverse agricultural datasets using PySpark; (ii) analyze, visualize, and judge the quality of data and work with the data quality team to pre-process data for model efficiency; (iii) design and prototype models using statistical modeling, process modeling, and other techniques such as machine learning, deep learning; (iv) deliver end-to-end data science pipeline with cloud computing tools like AWS Sagemaker; (v) work closely with a team of world-class scientists, engineers, and mathematicians to deliver impactful scientific research in different areas like classification, regression, ranking and recommendation; and (vi) assist with high-level analysis report, Jira workflow and code reviews in GitLab.

This is a hybrid work-from-home position that requires the employee to be able to work in our San Francisco office two (2) days per week.

Must have a master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field plus three (3) years of experience in a related position.

Experience must include 18 months: (i) designing and coding for Data ingestion, transformation and Data Quality of Big Data in a distributed data processing framework using Spark, SQL and/or PySpark; (ii) analyzing, visualizing, and generating insights from agricultural-related data using Numpy, Pandas, Scikit;Learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Plotly Python libraries); (iii) conducting image and data quality control with Kibana platform and image annotation work for data preparation with Figure8 platform; (iv) developing deep learning models using Tensorflow, Keras, and PyTorch for different use-cases for classification, regression, ranking and recommendation; (v) building Tensorflow and Keras models using convolutional and recurrent neural network components; (vi) pre-processing and transforming datasets with Keras and Tensorflow Transform for model efficiency; (vii) implementing End-to-End Data Science workflow and Designed Continuous Learning pipelining for model refinement in AWS Sagemaker; (viii) creating data pipeline for remote sensing, environmental, and agricultural datasets; (ix) presenting and conveying rigorous mathematical concepts and considerations to non-experts; and (x) writing well-structured, well-tested, maintainable, performant, and well-documented code with an emphasis on translating scientific models.

Experience can be concurrent.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $155,000 to $165,000.  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  The offered salary may vary within this range based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
