We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer (full-time) to join our Data Engineering team in Berlin. 

As a Data Engineer with Backend or Full Stack background, your mission at Babbel will be to change the face of language learning one automation at a time. Working alongside your teammates in a fast-paced environment, you'll be collaborating and diving into different areas such as Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Site Reliability, InfoSec and many more to deliver innovations right on our Babbel learners hands. 

You will:

• Shape our data platform
• Secure our precious data and the infrastructure it relies on
• Keep the data moving towards where is actually needed (streaming and batch) with well-tested and performant solutions
• Automate them all!
• Monitoring and alerting (might be boring, but… refer to the point above)
• Participate in our knowledge sharing sessions (we're a learning company after all!)

You have:

• Mastered Python (and maybe bash) and want to raise the bar for our codebase
• Quite the experience with AWS services and cloud architectures
• Familiarity with Terraform and Github Actions
• Been there, done that, at testing, logging, monitoring and alerting (better yet if you still love it!)
• A general understanding of structured/unstructured data and SQL/NoSQL databases
• Fluency in written and spoken English

Nice to have:

• Implemented ETL/streaming pipelines with Spark (extra points for Databricks)
• Scheduled complex data flows with Airflow or DBT
• Showed interest in Machine Learning / have experience building ML-driven or algorithmic data products
