We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineers to join our office in Berlin! Your mission will be to change the future of language learning by ideating and validating a new space for Babbel. You will work in a small team, close to subject matter experts and researchers to bring this mission to reality.

You will:

• Deliver value iteratively by building high-quality applications and features
• Build, maintain, and take ownership of a rich ecosystem of applications and services
• Be part of feature teams and build end-to-end customer features
• Own architectural design and constantly propose improvements of the existing features
• Ensure that the systems you own are healthy, resilient, and perform well
• Collaborate cross-functionally on feature design, architectural decisions, and assessing technical debt
• Shape our coding guidelines and quality standards
• React, troubleshoot and solve operational events (bugs and incidents)
• Focus on continuous learning and improvement and drive the evolution of our engineering practices
• Work in a small team and contribute & drive all phases of development
• Propose, implement and validate solutions - from prototypes to potentially scaling them (or discarding them)
• Maintain and make use of a good overview of the overall technology stack and infrastructure

You are:

• Curious

• Enjoying early projects with a lot of ambiguity 

You have:

• Experience in fast Build-Measure-Learn cycles
• Strong sense for good API design and third-party API integrations
• Experience in using AWS, NoSQL databases
• Proficient knowledge in JavaScript, HTML, CSS (incl. preprocessors and CSS in JS)
• Knowledge in component-based frontend frameworks, ideally React and Redux
• Testing experience on different levels: unit, integration, contract, and E2E
• Willingness to cooperate with the product and business stakeholders building together a trust working environment
• A can-do attitude to build MVPs and iterate on them in short cycles
• Good understanding of lean and agile practices
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English

Nice to have:

• Strong understanding of Event-Driven Architecture
• Knowledge of analyzing metrics about system health and performance (ideally DataDog, CloudWatch, PagerDuty, Rollbar)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code,ideally with Terraform
• Solid sense for good API design and third-party API integrations
• Experience with responsive design and working with design teams
• Education industry experience
