WHO YOU ARE:

• An experienced individual able to perform system administration tasks and hands-on support on a variety of Unix, Linux, and Cloud-based systems. Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) versions 5 through 9 and any yum-based operating systems is essential.
• You work effectively with application support and development teams to implement necessary infrastructure for business systems. You possess skills in Linux integrations, Active Directory SSSD, system log management, and system performance tuning (e.g., kernel tweaking using sysctl.conf).
• A proactive team player who supports both project and operational tasks, continuously refining procedures to foster improvement within the team. You have a solid understanding of O/S hardening practices to enhance system security.
• Proficient in virtualization technologies like VMware vSphere, Kubernetes (AKS/OpenShift), and cloud environments (Azure, GCP). Experienced in container technologies using Azure Container Store or Artifactory and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Manage the installation, support, and security of the IT server, database, and storage estate globally. Establish and maintain a “sense of urgency” among team members and vendors to provide effective, timely operational and project support.
• Ensure SLAs and operational KPIs are met, working with internal and external support functions during major incidents. Use tools like Ansible, Terraform, Git/GitLab, Azure DevOps pipelines, and cloud CLI tools (AWS CLI, Azure CLI, GCP CLI) for automation and operational efficiency.
• Support the global plan and project work as part of the GIS global strategy. Contribute to DR plans specifically for Unix, Linux, and Cloud systems, and partake in wider DR planning.
• Follow and contribute to the strategic direction for Unix, Linux and Cloud systems and wider infrastructure areas. Identify and implement improvements in technology and processes, suggesting enhancements to management.

GENERAL AND SOFT SKILLS:

• Proficient in scripting with Bash, PowerShell, PowerCLI, and Perl for various automation and integration tasks.
• Strong documentation skills are required for maintaining clear and up-to-date records. Ability to describe technical solutions clearly to a non-technical audience is crucial.

Flexible in approach, able to prioritize work effectively and adapt to both agile and sometimes waterfall methodologies
