Job Title: Services Principal Project Manager – Global Services Software Delivery Business

Work Style: Hybrid with flex working hours

Role Description

We are looking for a high-performing technical Project Manager to join our Global Services team, taking on a very broad responsibility for the successful end to end delivery of software projects for our existing and future customer base. Typical projects range between £100k - £1.0M software & services.

The role will challenge you beyond a traditional project management role, as you will be encouraged to have a reasonable understanding of all the technical aspects of the project, including the mathematical and engineering concepts within the tools as well as the commercial business processes which the tools address in client companies. You will have a proven ability to learn quickly and think on your feet, assimilating new information so as to provide useful consultancy and guidance quickly.

You will have to be a talented communicator in both commercial and technical contexts: able to quickly grasp and explain complex engineering software concepts while being just as comfortable with complex commercial negotiations. You will also need excellent written and spoken communication skills to communicate across the company, and with our broad client base. Your responsibilities will range from high-level presentations with senior management through to detailed technical discussions with internal product and practice managers and client technical experts.

An engineering, scientific or mathematical background and good communication abilities are essential, as it is important to understand the technical aspects of client business processes when implementing software solutions for them.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage multiple software & services delivery projects in accordance with published project governance and quality standards.
• Develop a trusted relationship with the customer through delivering their requirements
• Manage customer expectations and satisfaction by providing excellent project management and effective negotiation of changes to project scope
• Demonstrate effective leadership by serving as single point of responsibility for all aspects of assigned projects and by mentoring project managers and associate project managers
• Oversee project team interactions coordinating project elements and communicating project progress, both internally and to customers
• Accurately track, analyse and forecast profitability, revenue, margins, cash-flow, utilization, risks & issues.
• Plan transition of responsibility to support team once project delivery is complete
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities, including Lessons Learnt, and apply them in new projects.

Essential

• Strong experience working in a software & services project management role, ideally within the petroleum industry or another process industry
• Engineering, scientific or mathematical background
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to understand and explain complex technical topics
• Excellent Japanese language and business English skills
• Ability to identify issues and risks, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives using basic root cause analysis
• Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to work in a team environment
• Proven organisational and project management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project.
• Proven experience with the full Software Delivery Life Cycle.
• Native level of Japanese language and business level of English language
   

Desirable

• Experience working with formal project methodologies (e.g. APM PRINCE 2, PMI/BOK) and possess associated accreditation (e.g. PMI PMP, IPMA Level C, PRINCE2 Practitioner)
• Experience working with ISO 9001 Certified Quality Management Systems and/or CMMI L3 or higher
• Self-motivated, assertive and should be comfortable and capable of leading teams
• Experience in managing multi-country, multi-site projects including global roll outs in areas of MES, IT integration, MIS, SCADA will be preferred.
• Experience managing remote and cross-function teams.
