Software Engineers on our data platform team develop applications and APIs that facilitate the flow of data throughout the Atlas infrastructure and support downstream business applications. These systems are responsible for handling sensitive patient data, and members of the team are technical champions of ensuring HIPAA standards for confidentiality and compliance. This role focuses on API development, data stores, and automation thereof in conjunction with data engineering initiatives and fits in a cross-functional team that manages ETLs and data distribution. Additionally, software engineers collaborate with security engineering and business implementation & operations teams as custodians of patient and company data.
Responsibilities:
- Leverage cloud infrastructure to engineer scalable, reliable, and performant applications and APIs
- Collaborate with platform engineers on creating reliable and secure systems
- Develop readable, well-tested applications, APIs, and libraries
- Develop and maintain software for data systems and databases
- Collaborate closely with team members and product stakeholders
- Coordinate with product and implementation teams on client data processes and support
- Contribute to automation and quality engineering initiatives
- Implement application observability in the form of metrics, logging, and monitoring
- Provide mentorship and guidance to more junior members of the team
Requirements:
- Professional experience with cloud-based systems
- Experience with service oriented architectures and developing APIs
- Demonstrated understanding of distributed task processing
- Ability to develop and test systems that manage data reliability, efficiency, and quality
- Understanding of multiple software development paradigms
- Comfort in working with containerization tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or similar
- Computer Science or related technical degree in a related field or equivalent technical experience
Bonus points:
- Depth of knowledge in Google Cloud Platform
- Experience using Apache Airflow or similar orchestration systems
- Experience working in an ePHI environment
- Familiarity with service mesh patterns
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluency in Python
- Experience with IAC tools
Salary Range: $115,000-$150,000 annually
