The Power Electronics Team at Archer is looking for a seasoned electrical engineer with focus on developing requirements and validation plans for our Inverter/Electric Engine

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the cross-functional effort to define, validate, implement, and verify requirements for our inverter power electronics
  • Ensure the inverter / electric engine hardware & software requirements are complete and correct, with traceability to and fulfilling higher level requirements
  • Coordinate with other system engineers to ensure the inverter / electric engine, and therefore the vehicle, meet their requirements
  • Collaborate with inverter / electric engine technical leads and safety leads to define the functional breakdown
  • Aid in the definition of functional, physical, and logical interfaces
  • Contribute to architecture definition, trade studies, and cross-functional integration efforts and issue resolution
  • Develop low level requirement sets with support from technical leads and subject matter experts
  • Coordinate the integration, validation and verification process for the inverter / electric engine, ensuring the plans are followed and process independence is maintained

What you need:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience developing and verifying power converters and/or inverters
  • Understanding of high level architecture, hardware design and controls of power converters and/or inverters 
  • Experience working in the development of electronic control units
  • Experience using requirement management tools, such as Polarion, DOORS
  • Experience describing functions through block diagrams, flow diagrams, algorithms, etc.
  • Experience in Functional Safe design requirements and implementation
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong ability to work cross functionally and drive decisions to closure

Bonus Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience developing and certifying inverters / power converters or systems utilizing multiple motors
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
  • Hands on experience with DO-160G testing and DO-254 development
  • Knowledge of motor control theory
  • Familiarity with hardware/software interface documentation
  • Experience with Qualification Test Procedures
  • Knowledgeable on 14 CFR Part 33/35 or equivalent regulations
  • Knowledgeable on SAE ARP4761, especially Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Passion for aviation and eVTOLs

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
