The U.S. Consumer Services and Enterprise Digital & Data Technology Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering (Mobile and Web), AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments.

This role within American Express Technology (AET) DDAIML Organization, will report into the Principal Engineer of Augmented Intelligence

Responsibilities:

  • Drive Enterprise Personalization vision, strategy, and execution across Amex.
  • Closely partner with the Enterprise Customer Intelligence Engineering teams,
  •  Enterprise Machine Learning Platform teams, as well as the AI Services & Governance team to drive the core technical decisions across the Augmented Intelligence space to enable an optimized CX and DX experience.
  • Lead a highly technical R&D team and play a visible role in implementing innovative technology and A.I./Machine Learning solutions with other industry-leading partners
  •  Combine A.I./Machine Learning and Engineering skills to implement highly scalable engineering solutions to solve real-world problems in the Augmented Intelligence space.
  • Closely follow research and open source developments/publications and apply them.
  • Help craft the direction of machine learning and artificial intelligence at AmEx 

Qualifications:

  •  Master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, EE, EEE,
  • Statistics, Math, Industrial Engineering, Operational Research, Physics,
  • Financial Engineering, or related STEM fields. PhD degree preferred.
  • 10+ years full lifecycle product development and engineering leadership in highly available, highly scalable, high throughput systems
  • Experience building and delivering sophisticated platforms that use various machine learning algorithms or technologies and are able to scale optimally.
  • Good understanding of cluster and parallel architecture as well as high-scale or distributed RDBMS and/or knowledge on NoSQL platforms (e.g. PostgreSQL, Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake, DynamoDB, Neo4J, MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase, etc.).
  • Hands-on Engineering experience in AdTech, martech, AI/ML techstack with deep understanding on Model Development Lifecycle.
  • Hands-on Experience with most of the following open-source solutions:

o   Orchestrate: Airflow, Kubeflow Pipelines, ML Run

o   Container: Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos + Marathon

o   Model Serving: Kubeflow KF Serving, TF Serving, Seldon-Core, MLflow

o   Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch

  • Development:

o   Programming Language: Java, Scala, Python, Julia

o   Middle Ware: Kafka, MQ, Rabbit MQ etc.

o   Machine Learning: XGBoost, MLlib

o   Feature Store: Hopsworks, Feast, or other purposed built Feature Store

o   Model Format: PMML, ONNX

  •  Hands-on Experience with following message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ tools and technologies is a plus:

o   Amazon Kinesis / GCP PubSub

o   Apache Flink

o   Apache Kafka

o   Apache Kylin

o   Apache NiFi

o   Apache Samza

o   Apache Spark

o   Apache Storm

o   Hadoop

o   Hive

o   Zeppelin/ Jupyter

  • Strong team leadership and talent development attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
