AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE: Technical leader responsible for Graphics Systems support and enablement at Hardware and Software level for worldwide AMD Embedded customers. Systems are integrated combinations of hardware components (CPUs, graphics, memory, IO adapters, peripherals, and BMCs) and software components (firmware, drivers, OS, virtualization, and system management). This individual will interface with the AMD Field (FAE’s and Sales), Marketing, Software, Systems Engineering, and Validation teams to assist with issues reported by AMD Embedded Customers. THE PERSON: The individual will work in the Graphics competency for Windows and most specially for Linux based solutions. The individual will assist in review, bring-up and debug of hardware/software designs for internal and external designs and will provide solutions to internal and external customers. The candidate will generate technical reports, frequently asked questions, application note, white papers, and use-case analysis relevant to AMD Embedded customers. The successful candidate must have an intimate knowledge of PC architecture, graphics architecture and related IP. The candidate must be highly motivated, innovative, and be able to work in a fast paced environment with out of the box thinking. The individual must be able to quickly analyze different customer scenarios to come up with the best approach to tackle tough problems. There must be a keen interest in finding and resolving platform, system, and chip failures. This role is in an intense but rewarding environment KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform Linux Open Source Graphics Driver Code builds and resolve Build issues Provide Linux Open Source Graphics Driver Code consulting around Kernel and User Mode components Help our customers come up with optimized Windows and Linux solutions by providing customization for specific hardware and software system designs Understand and duplicate customer reported issues related to Windows and Linux OS (with a focus area on Linux environment) Support all phases of each assigned issue, including silicon, board, and software bring up, production and sustaining Drive resolution of all customer technical issues by providing direct support to field engineers and working closely with other departments including H/W Engineering, S/W Engineering and Marketing Perform debug and diagnosis of hardware and software issues on customer platforms (with focus on Software) Run competitive performance analysis for AMD based systems based on customer requirements Participate in conference calls with customers to communicate status and updates Document procedures and methods to clarify solutions for customer issues PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Knowledge and experience in C/C++ programming Knowledge and experience in Debug (HDT, Kernel DBG, Visual Studio) Knowledge in scripting languages such as shell, Perl, Python, and Ruby Experience with performance analysis Games, Video codec (decode/encode) experience Linux Kernel and User Mode Drivers / Architecture Graphics Architecture knowledge Multimedia knowledge Excellent communication skills Strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills Familiar with at least one of Ubuntu Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise, openSUSE, Android ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline LOCATION: Markham, Ontario #LI-NM1 #LI-HYBRID Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
