About Alloy.ai

At Alloy.ai, we work with consumer goods companies that make the products we eat, wear, and use every day, as well as the ones we occasionally splurge on. We’re tackling a real and complex problem for them—managing supply and demand in the face of constantly changing customer behavior, highly complex supply chain networks, 40-year-old data standards and labor-intensive manual processes.

Alloy.ai is a fast-growing, well-funded startup with an expanding presence across the world. Our team hails from successful startups, leading tech companies and Fortune 100 enterprises. We believe deeply in fostering individual ownership, iterating to excellence, focusing on what matters, communicating openly & respectfully, and supporting one another.

We encourage people of all backgrounds to apply. Alloy.ai is committed to creating an inclusive culture, and we celebrate diversity of all kinds.

About the Role

Are you a well-rounded, user-centered UX designer or developer who wants to have an impact on day one? Are you looking to join an early-stage company with a high-performing Product and Design team?

At Alloy we are passionate about helping our customers make sense of the world’s global supply chain and take action to transform their businesses.

We are seeking a full-time UX Design Engineer to help us build elegant, user-friendly, software products that help consumer goods brands manage the overwhelming complexities of supply and demand.

Over most of the next year, one of our highest priority projects is building our design system and component library toolkit. This is a challenging task not only because of the monumental volume of customer data we must make accessible, but also because it requires identifying patterns from existing UI elements and establishing design best practices. This will also require partnering with Product Management and Engineering to develop and champion a roadmap that serves our customers’ needs.

You will be a part of our nimble Product and Design team who does all of the necessary research and design to determine what our products look, behave, and feel like. You will also work closely with our Engineering team to implement your roadmap, and to educate and evangelize toolkit use.

Your primary role will be to bridge these teams, as owner of the Alloy design system and primary contributor to our component library toolkit. Secondarily, you will be expected to lead strategic design projects including: mapping customer journeys, user experience testing, designing and communicating user workflows, and shipping finished product.

About You

You thrive in a small team where you can make a big impact. You are confident in your toolkit and experience, but you also love to pick up new skills and knowledge.

You are a fast learner, ready to prove yourself in a challenging role with the expectation that you will rapidly pick up increased responsibilities.

You have an innate drive to be successful. As a foundational member of an early-stage startup, you want to take initiative, tackle new obstacles and solve problems we have not encountered before. Each problem you solve will leave a mark, shaping the future of our sales strategy.

You don’t shy away from even the most challenging problems and are relentless in always looking for better solutions. You pursue your personal objectives, but you are also comfortable working with an engineering-oriented team towards common goals. When you know a better way, you voice your opinion.

You are naturally drawn to analytical work. You can naturally switch between detail-oriented execution, communication with all involved parties, and prioritization based on added value.

You think big and want to change the way an entire industry operates.

What you’ll do

    • Have individual ownership of our product design system and a direct impact on our product visual design language
    • Help shape our product definition by working closely with our product managers,  designers, and engineers to develop a shared understanding of customer problems
    • Provide your expertise and understanding of front-end technologies to help build our component library toolkit, prototype fresh experiences and ensure the design integrity of our products
    • Lead key UX projects by performing customer research, designing end-to-end user workflows and ensuring the design integrity of our implementation

Your background includes

    • 5+ years of SaaS product design experience
    • Advanced knowledge design tools (Figma, Adobe suite) and common front-end technologies (React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, SASS)
    • Experience leading the design and implementation of complex products
    • Strong asynchronous communicator, particularly in a fully remote environment
    • Deep knowledge of trends and design best practices
    • Demonstrated interest in continual learning and self-improvement
