Senior Mechanical Engineer – Greenfield, IN

Allegion is looking for a passionate Senior Mechanical Engineer to work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands (including Schlage, Von Duprin and LCN) focused on safety, security and access management.  You’ll work on solutions that will enable seamless access and help keep you and your loved ones safe and secure where they work, live and thrive.

What You Will Do:

• Work with all manufacturing disciplines in a team environment with good understanding of cross functional design processes (high focus on interactions with Product Management, Quality and Process Engineering)
• Develop required design documentation, 3D models/drawings, and instructions for manufacturing and product test requirements. Experience with Pro-E/Creo is a plus.
• Creation of technical product specifications, interaction with engineering change management system, and/or process development/enhancements.  
• Utilize engineering tools (FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T, Tolerance Stack Analysis & DFM/DFA) to ensure that requirement risks are evaluated and mitigated early in the design process.
• Coordinate development timelines and track activities to meet delivery and cost commitments.
• Responsibilities could include technical leadership of cross-functional teams, leading design reviews and supplier reviews.
• Ensure designs meet system requirements through proper verification methods.

What You Need to Succeed: 

• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in the design, development, implementation, and integration of mechanical products.
• Proven experience in moderate to complex project and/or program management.
• Experience with Creo, Solidworks, Windchill, Extrusion Industry Standards/ Validation, Value Analysis Value Engineering.
• Experience with manufacturing processes such as die casting, aluminum extruding, investment casting, powdered metal, stampings, injection molded plastics, machining.
• Experience working directly with Quality teams during Production Part Approval Process.
• Self-motivated mindset with strong engineering project management skills.
• Experience with ERP systems – Microsoft Dynamics AX, Oracle, SAP, KBM.
• Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing, with various team members in roles that are both technical and non-technical.
• An upbeat, positive attitude and have a passion for excellence and willingness to be curious beyond the obvious.
• A proactive work approach to coordinate efforts with employees at all levels including internal business partners, external suppliers, customers, etc.
• Experience in product design from concept to production and have experience utilizing cross functional processes such as engineering change control.
• Proficiency with engineering tools including FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T, Tolerance Stack Analysis & DFM/DFA.
• Experience using an integrated development environment or project management tool such as DevOps.
