Alert Innovation

Senior Installation Engineer

Remote
Description

Alert Innovation, now powered by Walmart, is a fast-growing venture on a mission to reinvent retail through robotics. We’ve partnered with Walmart to develop our Alphabot® technology, which is currently being deployed at stores throughout North America.

The Installation / Construction Engineer will perform the critical role of providing the technical expertise required to ensure that the combination of subcontractors and Alert Innovation employees complete installation of the Alphabot structure in compliance with all critical parameters such that there is a defect-free hand off to the Alert commissioning team. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of both the electrical and mechanical knowledge necessary to support the installation, however, candidates will be considered who have expertise in one of the two with the ability to acquire the necessary expertise in the other.

This position requires a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who cares deeply about their own and their team’s success and has strong technical, interpersonal, problem-solving skills. Due to the fast-paced and dynamic nature of the work, the right candidate will possess the ability to maintain order amidst chaos, adapt easily to change, maintain focus on the objective, operate with minimal supervision, and thrive under the pressure of challenging deadlines. This is an end user-facing position working under minimal supervision and requires travel throughout North America.

Our work is challenging, fun, and rewarding. We seek to hire people who want work to be meaningful and strive for excellence in a team-oriented culture.

  • Troubleshoot installation & material problems or issues.
  • Drive implementation and utilization of Installation Quality Systems (RFI’s, NCR’s, etc.).
  • Validate that equipment is installed per Alert requirements.
  • Participate in new product/component constructibility design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting procedural and design changes.
  • Participate in Site Engineering design reviews identifying critical parameters required for proper field execution.
  • Travel throughout North America to support site installations and upgrades.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 5-10 years experience in a similar role in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and work instructions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems in a timely manner with minimal support.
  • Multidisciplinary (mechanical & electrical) “hands on” technical aptitudes.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to safely climb ladders and to move safely within confined spaces, thru small openings with low overhead clearance.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to achieve aggressive project goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate at all levels (internal and external customers, engineers, technicians & tradespersons) in written, verbal & presentation formats.
  • Familiarity with requirements of construction safety (OSHA) as well as electrical safety (LOTO, hazard risk assessment, NFPA 70E, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel 75% of the time to client installation locations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management preferred but not required.
