Senior Data Engineer, Marketing Data

The Community You Will Join:

The Marketing Data Platform team is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team. We own and curate important marketing data models, data resources, and metrics that are critical to drive business growth and product engagement. 

In this role you will own some of Airbnb’s most foundational data assets, including our marketing communication & engagement, growth & attribution, ads performance and traffic acquisition. You will design, build and own the company-wide marketing performance data models and metrics. You will work closely with Analytics Engineers, Software Engineers,  Analytics and the Finance team to make sure our marketing core data foundation is accurate, high quality, and adapting to the evolving business needs.

Data Engineering is part of our Engineering org as we believe great Data Engineering depends on solid Software Engineering fundamentals. A Typical Day:

• Develop and automate large scale, high-performance data processing systems (batch and/or streaming) to drive Airbnb business growth and improve the product experience.
• Build scalable Spark data pipelines leveraging Airflow scheduler/executor framework
• Design our data models for optimal storage and retrieval and to meet critical product and business requirements.
• Understand and influence logging to support our data flow, architecting logging best practices where needed
• Contribute to shared Data Engineering tooling & standards to improve the productivity and quality of output for Data Engineers across the company
• Improve data quality by using & improving internal tools to automatically detect issues

Your Expertise:

• 5-9+ years of relevant industry experience with a BS/Masters, preferably in CS, or 2+ years with a PhD
  
• Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets to identify gaps and inconsistencies, provide data insights, and advance effective product solutions
• Experience designing and deploying high performance systems with reliable monitoring and logging practices
• Working knowledge of relational databases and query authoring (SQL).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
