Description

Aescape is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will development critical sub systems, while bringing additional technical depth and capabilities to the team. Day to day, you'll get to be at the heart of our product, working with a stellar team along the way.

You’ll collaborate with electrical engineering, software, robotics, manufacturing, and the product team through the development process. You’ll develop, document, and validate new product designs and have a uniquely rewarding opportunity to craft a novel product which will delight and help millions of people every day. 

This role is onsite based in NYC.

What You’ll Do 

  • Serve as Senior Mechanical Engineer on cross-functional project teams to develop a world-class robotics systems.

  • Leverage your strong understanding of user needs and requirements, balance individual. product-level requirements with system-level requirements, resolve complex mechanical design issues, and commit to the highest product quality.

  • Create intellectual property by brainstorming novel concepts, writing invention disclosures, and creating rapid prototypes.

  • Create product functional and design specifications and drawings; analyze and test product designs + components.

  • Help develop initial fixtures and assembly processes in collaboration with contract manufacturing team(s); develop and collaborate on verification testing.

  • Provide mechanical engineering support for resolution of manufacturing and field issues.

  • Support production of final product by troubleshooting process and component problems.

  • Investigate and determine root cause of quality, manufacturing, or material defects.

What You’ll Bring

  • Ability to work onsite in the NYC headquarters. 

  • 5 plus years hands-on mechanical design engineering experience for large-scale electromechanical devices.

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Familiarity with all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debugging, verification, qualification, and transfer.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of component manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheetmetal, weldments, surface finishes and painting/powder coating.

  • Mechanical design and analysis skills, including statistics, dynamics, kinematics, strength of materials and stress analysis (FEA); familiarity with statistics and design of experiments.

  • Strong understanding of component selection criteria, and design for reliability and manufacturability.

  • Strong written and verbal skills, you’re a strong storyteller who uses inclusive language to ensure understanding—explaining technical concepts to non-technical partners.

  • Collaboration skills, you easily communicate effectively with diverse audiences in geographically distributed locations.

  • High emotional intelligence (EQ), you’re aware of yourself and others.

  • A driven self-starter who thrives in sometimes ambiguous situations.

    Nice-to-have, But Not Required

  • High volume Consumer electronics product development experience.
