Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a Project Manager for our Program and Project Management team in Arlington, VA to support the Project Manager with oversite of the management and administration of project through all project phases from design, preconstruction to construction and close-out. 

Manages one or more less complex projects, involving a combination of the following:

  • Clients with a small or local geographic footprint; OR,
  • Projects involving limited services provided by a local IE office; OR,
  • Other complexities, on a limited basis, such as projects that involve litigation, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) super funding, due diligence, etc
  • May manage certain phases of projects only
  • Generally working under the supervision of a senior Project Manager/Program Manager or above, or a Regional Manager
  • Within individual's area of responsibility, consistently identifies potential project problems or opportunities in a proactive manner, analyzes the issues using all appropriate resources, develops alternatives and arrives at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities
  • Makes sound, well-informed and objective decisions relating to assigned project with a strong understanding of the impact and implications of decisions
  • Manages project resources
  • Advises/mentors less experienced staff on project management skills
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of construction management practices with ability to work within a project team environment with minimum supervision
  • Coordinate work with customer departments, campus administration, designers, other project managers, government agencies, and other service and support agencies
  • Manage project finances, make and review estimates, negotiate contract change orders with A/E firms and contractors, and to develop and manage value-engineering efforts
  • Review construction drawings and specifications for constructability. Knowledge of national, state and local

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management, + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Travel to client institution required - location: College Park, MD

Preferred Requirements

  • Understanding of construction management practices is essential 
  • Collaborating within a project team setting with minimal supervision
  • Two years of increasingly responsible experience in relevant fields, involving overseeing multiple renovation projects, small to mid-sized new construction projects (up to $50M), and supervising A/E (design) consultant services and construction administration.

  • Skilled Mechanical Engineer with experience in project design, analysis, and execution
  • Proficient in simulation tools, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective team collaborator and leader, excelling in attention to detail, time management, and multitasking under pressure
  • Expertise spans product design, process development, problem-solving, quality assurance, team building, structural and thermal analysis, testing, technical documentation, and utilization of various software tools
