Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Intern to be based in Chelmsford, MA.

This position is expected to begin in May 2024

Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Water/wastewater treatment evaluation and design.
  • Pump station evaluation and design.
  • Water distribution system hydraulic modeling, analysis, and design.
  • Sewer collection system evaluation and design.
  • Stormwater modeling, analysis, and design.
  • Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the Autodesk Civil 3D and/or  AutoCAD MEP.
  • Assist in the development and application of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analyses related to floodplain management studies and a variety of water resource projects.
  • Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in water resources, water or wastewater treatment, conveyance/pipelines, or related field.
  • Must have completed 3 years of study in the applicable program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A GPA of 3.0 of higher
  • Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment, and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.
  • A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven environment.
  • Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering concepts through coursework or work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong logic skills and writing skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Documents time and effort accurately.
