Database Reliability Engineering

Position Summary:

Candidate will work closely with Reliability Engineers and customers to ensure all Adobe's mission and business critical databases and applications are performing optimally. Primary responsibilities include database activities including:

Working with developers and define database objects, backup and recovery, patches, upgrades, software installation, database schema changes, data Modelling and tuning, Capacity and Performance improvements

Successful candidate must be able to apply database knowledge to design effective and optimal database layout, analyze and improve database performance. The candidate is expected to be a part of on-call rotation schedule.

The ability to communicate technical / non-technical issues / solutions in a clear, concise and easy to understand manner is imperative, as the candidate may participate in technical and customer reviews and should be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.  To be successful in Adobe's dynamic environment, qualified candidates must be self-motivated, work closely with others in a true team environment and able to define, plan and implement long term goals and tasks in support of Adobe’s enterprise and Information Services departmental strategies and charter. Excellent problem solving, multitasking, troubleshooting skills, logical thinking and attention to detail are required to work in this challenging and dynamic environment. Ability to automate day today activities to ensure execution and consistent results, will be a key plus attribute.

Requirements and Skills:

Education:                  B-Tech / MCA

Years of Experience:    6- 12 Years.

Key Skills:                  NoSQL Db

• Experience with database platforms like MongoDB and Cassandra and which includes
  • Administration and provisioning
  • Performance Tuning and Management
  • Backup, DR, Replication and HA
  • Monitoring and observability (Native monitoring tools and open-source tools like Prometheus)
  • Configuration management – (Preferably Salt, Ansible/Puppet/Chef)
  • Preferred
    • Coding and Scripting– Python, PHP, Shell Node.js
    • Security best practices
    • Cloud Platforms – AWS AZURE
    • Strong OS (AIX, Linux) concepts and fundamentals
• Strong Communication and Collaboration Skills
• Customer-Centric Mindset

Responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to:

• Candidate will be serving as the primary point of contact for advanced level troubleshooting issues and perform hands-on Database/ Systems/ Applications administration as required.
• Candidate will automate regular administrative work with other support teams and ensures they are functioning correctly.
• Candidate will write documentation, including data standards, procedures, and data dictionary definitions.
• Candidate will work with Systems and Development teams on designs, database performance optimization, and perform on-call support by providing responses to high priority requests for assistance by Operations teams and provide after hours and weekend support as needed.
• The candidate will work with application developers to evolve the applications/database architecture and design and will participate in the creation and refinement of staging & production application/database instances.
• Respond to on-call incidents and be available for inquiries from staff, management, and vendors. Provide technical assistance and support.
• Provide 24*7 support on rotation basis
