The Cloud Infrastructure Operations Team manages and maintains all cloud-related systems, network, and infrastructure at Abarca Health.  Our team ensures peak performance, availability, stability and security of our cloud-based systems and platform.  We leverage the latest Azure technologies to continually improve and modernize our cloud operating environment. We partner with product and software development teams to drive business outcomes.

Azure Cloud Engineers are responsible for the maintenance of secure and highly available cloud computing environments.  This position will ensure the ongoing reliability, security, and performance of the Azure cloud infrastructure.  This would entail monitoring the operating environments, responding to incidents and service requests, and participating in projects to continually improve our technology.  Azure cloud engineers also partner with Information Security to ensure proper audit and security controls are enforced in all levels and processes of the cloud computing platform.

The fundamentals for the job…

  • Collaborate in engineering activities related to the maintenance of all Azure cloud infrastructure (compute, storage, and related features).
  • Serve as a domain specialist in multiple Azure service offerings.
  • Support stable operations by responding to incidents and service requests within OLAs/SLAs
  • Contribute to the growth of the organization by achieving shared project objectives.
  • Leverage automation technology to improve day-to-day operations of Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Identify and improve monitoring thresholds for Azure services to proactively troubleshoot problems within the cloud infrastructure.
  • Deploy cloud infrastructure capabilities based on application needs and anticipated growth.
  • Create, update, and maintain documentation of current and new systems, environments, and cloud services.
  • Participate in periodic 24x7 on-call rotation.

What we expect of you

The bold requirements…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, IT, or a related field (in lieu of a degree, equivalent relevant work experience may be considered)
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience as an Azure Cloud Engineer with exposure to automation methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure technology stack and concepts such as Azure compute, vNets, Azure AD/Entra, storage blob, etc.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell, Ansible and Terraform
  • Experience with disaster recovery concepts related to cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience leveraging infrastructure knowledge for problem solving incident management and resolution of complex technical tickets.
  • Availability to work rotating or irregular shifts (weekends/holidays), per business or operational needs.
  • Must be willing to travel on occasion to support business initiatives (in state or out of state)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • We are proud to offer a flexible hybrid work model which will require certain on-site workdays (Puerto Rico location only)

Nice to have…

  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications, such as Azure Administrator Associate, are highly desirable
  • Experience with marketplace services such as AKS, Kong API gateway, and Redis are a plus
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM delivery methodologies

Physical requirements…

  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
