Senior Research Associate/Scientist – Cell Biology, Cell Culture Core Lead (P-2526)

About the Role

Our customers study a wide range of sample types using our single cell, spatial and in situ assays to unravel new biology, which require tailored sample preparation approaches. We are seeking an independent, passionate, and curious Senior Research Associate/Scientist with a background in cell and molecular biology or related field. 

You, the candidate, will have a track record in working with different cell types and biological samples, is experienced in performing cell-based assays and optimizing cell culture methods. You will interact with scientists across our company, and will generate, characterize, and distribute high-quality biological samples for both internal and external use. In addition, you will play a key role to evaluate and optimize new methods for sample preparation.

What You Will Be Doing

• Acquire, expand, and maintain an inventory of relevant biological/clinical samples, including primary cells, cell lines, and blood derived samples.
• Write protocols and procedures, and maintain accurate records of our sample inventory. 
• Maintain our BSL-2 cell culture facility (logistics, routine monitoring for contamination, etc.). 
• Quality assessment of incoming biological samples, cell lines, primary cells.
• Cell line design, engineering, and validation.
• Expansion of cell lines including primary cells.
• Assist in the development and optimization of sample preparation procedures for single cell genomic assays and spatial assays.

Minimum Requirements

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in one of the following disciplines: Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or similar
• A minimum of 2 years of hands-on cell biology experience in an academic or industrial setting
• Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays (transfections, transductions etc.)
• Visualization, statistical analysis, interpretation, and communication of data
• Experience with provisioning or processing of human clinical samples (tissue, blood)
• Experience with tissue dissociation protocols across various cell types
• Histology (tissue processing, sectioning (fresh frozen and FFPE samples), H&E, immunohistochemistry)
• In addition, you should be well organized, and able to troubleshoot independently. Most importantly, you should be collaborative, and excited to work within a highly focused, interdisciplinary team to dig deep into primary sample preparation for single cell technology development.
