The Rakuten Technology Service Division, creates powerful, customer-focused search, recommendation, data science, advertising, marketing, price, and inventory optimization solutions to a variety of businesses in commerce, fintech and mobile industries.  We design, develop, and deploy high performance, fault-tolerant distributed systems used by millions of Rakuten customers every day. We strive to deliver the most innovative solutions that are helpful to people and societies around the world.

Search Application Engineering Group is responsible for delivering some of the Mission critical Rakuten Applications used by millions of users.

We are looking to hire an experienced full stack software engineer to bring the power of our AI technology to the next generation search experience. 

Position Details

Responsibilities:

- Lead technical efforts in the integration of new search and LLM technology into new system and prototypes

- Showcase the potential of our technology crafting custom full stack product demos and prototypes that highlight their capabilities

- Collaborate closely with other research, design, and development team on cross-functional projects, contribute to documentation and UI design as required

- Build strong relationships with external partners, translating their objectives and requirements into effective solutions

Mandatory Qualifications:

- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience at tech and product-driven companies

- Proficiency with JavaScript, CSS, Typescript, React, Node.js

Interest in AI/ML (direct experience not required)

- Ability to move fast in an environment where things are sometimes loosely defined and may have competing priorities or deadlines

- Ability to build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience with React Native, or familiarity with mobile development  for IOS/Android

- Experience with Python
