We Offer

You will be part of the Transported by Maersk – Vessel Scheduling team, focused on streamlining, optimizing, and automating shipping/vessel operations via advanced software solutions.

As Senior Engineering Manager you will be accountable for the deliverables of several scrum teams. The accountability spans across both quality and timeliness of the deliveries as well as the adherence to coding, design and architectural practices. You will ensure that the team collaborates with Product Owners following agile DevSecOps practices while driving smooth collaboration with the broader team, leaders, and other engineering teams.

You will lead by example in embracing Maersk values and practice and show strong leadership principles supporting the team on a daily basis. Along with this you will act as people leader for the team setting clear directions, ensuring high engagement and motivation while keeping a constant eye on development and growth opportunities for everyone ensuring the whole team can thrive at Maersk.

Key Responsibilities

• Be hands-on Engineering Manager who would guide scrum teams through entire application life cycle including research, design, development, testing (dev owns quality), along with continuous deployment and delivery
• Build and lead high-performant engineering teams with high degrees of psychological safety.
• Foster an inclusive team culture that enables team members of all backgrounds to succeed and thrive.
• Handle day-to-day management tasks such as staff 1:1 meetings, performance reviews and coaching/mentoring. Empower, challenge, and coach team members to grow their impact as individual technical leaders by providing them with context and continuous feedback
• Provide technical leadership to globally distributed team members being a team player and own, influence, decide on technical / solution architecture, infrastructure design, UI/UX design, quality standards, development process / methodologies, frameworks, tools & technology choices in alignment with Maersk Architecture guidelines, Design Principles and Methodologies
• Develop complex, highly resilient, distributed, cloud-native solutions, and maintain high level of quality, availability and scalability of the service
• Work directly with peer Data Analytics teams, Data Scientists teams, UX teams, SRE teams and Business Operations teams to align on the needs of the products and operations.
• Collaborate and be advisory to Product Owners to identify and manage risks, debt, issues and opportunities for technical improvement.
• Align stakeholders around the vision for the product and platform. Be the Customer Success Leader, consciously driving informed decisions and priorities to solve real customer pain and/or exploiting an opportunity to delight our customers.

To succeed in this role, we believe that you can offer

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience building, growing, retaining and managing a sizeable team of engineers building cloud-native, highly scalable, high performant, highly reliable and highly secure solutions software products
• Minimum 10+ years of hands-on enterprise software development experience in building cloud native, highly scalable, high performant, highly reliable and highly secure solutions, preferably in a product development environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to drive conversations across multiple teams and functions to a conclusion
• Skills at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
• Good understanding of data structures, design patterns, architecture principles, cloud technologies like Azure
• Experience with DevSecOps and Lean Development Principles using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CICD) with GitHub and infrastructure as a code
• Having familiarity with machine learning and data analytics provides an additional benefit
