Senior Java Developer - Remote

We have a great opportunity for a remote Sr. Java Developer to join the Enterprise Services team, within the Ferguson IT organization!

Responsibilities will include a deep knowledge and understanding of the Middleware tier; developing REST/SOAP API’s and services; implementing changes to the database and service model; creating new modules; developing integrations with 3rd-party platforms; and leading the triage of software incidents.

Must be skilled in the technologies listed below and possess excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a back-end developer (Java/AKS/Spring/MongoDB) with SysAdmin/DevOps experience in AWS and thrive in a fast-paced enterprise environment where each team-member is vital to the overall success of the Ferguson product line.

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who possesses strong leadership skills and who can be a primary resource for Ferguson’s development and engineering teams. You must be capable of working independently, collaboratively within the team as well as collaboratively with other teams.

**This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.**

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for analyzing and solving complex problems and providing solutions to overcome those problems using the latest technologies.
• Collaborate internally and across departments with peers to deliver products/solutions that align to Ferguson’s strategic vision.
• End-to-end ownership of solutions, ensure accuracy and completeness of solution by having recurring check points / audit loops with technical implementation teams.
• Provide technical leadership on complex projects and as needed will be an escalation point on production outages.
• Complete design and code reviews.
• Review team practices to identify areas of improvement.
• Work with vendors to resolve 3rd Level support issues.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in a Computer-related or Business-related field or relevant work experience is typically required to perform at expectation.
• At a minimum 5+ years of professional IT experience, with at least 3 years of hands-on implementation experience leading high-stake and complex IT projects.
• Expert level experience developing JAVA services in an enterprise environment.

The ideal candidate will need to have excellent technical skills and experience to include the following:

• Java
• Spring
• Linux and bash scripting
• MongoDB/Relational DB
• Familiarity with IntelliJ, Eclipse, Maven, BitBucket & GIT/GitHub.
• Agile exposure to SCRUM and Kanban, with a focus on JIRA for board management.
• Expert level experience developing REST style services that deliver responses in both JSON and XML.
• Solid understanding of IT infrastructure components (hardware, software, network, operating systems, storage) and Cloud platforms components (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS).
• Good knowledge of IT disciplines, e.g., software applications and interfaces, production operations, quality assurance, systems management, etc.
• Solid understanding of application development lifecycles, to include waterfall and agile methodologies and understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
• Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
• Must be self-motivated, proactive, creative, and efficient in identifying issues with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to details.
• Must be collaborative in decisions making and facilitate working to consensus to gain agreement when proposing solutions or taking ownership.
• Ability to create technical design documents with presentations using Microsoft Visio and Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Ability to work in a virtual team environment.
